Brisco

Brisco Road, leading to the sawmill, is the main access to Bugaboo Glacier Provincial Park, featuring wilderness hike-in camping and some of the best hiking and climbing opportunities in the world. The Bugaboos is renowned the globe over for its beauty and the rugged, enthralling adventures waiting there. Heli-skiing first began here. The road leading across the wetlands also takes you to Steamboat Mountain and Westside Road. Both eventually lead to the Cartwright Lakes fishing areas and Invermere. Caution: Watch for industrial traffic and be aware these are backcountry roads that aren??t built for car travel. Exploring the backcountry has untold rewards in terms of scenery, wildlife spotting and a great sense of getting away. However, always let someone know where you are going and when you expect to be back as some areas are lightly travelled. Five kilometres north of Brisco is the historic old Galena Church, which celebrated its 106th birthday last summer. In Brisco is the venerable Brisco General Store.
