Group Sports

The Play Radium motto for group sports is "team-building". The park facilities allow us to play a whole range of sports, including soccer, baseball, basketball, roller hockey, volleyball, ultimate frisbee, and relays. Beware, though: we have a tendency to add new rules which alter the entire traditional notions of these games! For added fun, join in the completely new and unique games which we'll bet you've never even dreamt of before.

Hiking and Wetland Walks

Enjoy the diverse scenery and ecosystems of Radium with your trusty hiking stick. The Wetland Walks held every Tuesday will meander down to the Columbia River wetlands, where games and activities will illustrate the importance of wildfowl, water creatures, insects, and plants in tying together the web of the rich swampland ecosystem. Participate on the mountain-side and canyon hikes, and discover how the Rocky and Purcell ranges were created and what came before them. Other hikes take us from cacti-covered slopes to dense red cedar groves. And don't miss the popular Radium Hot Springs hike for a dip in our world-renowned tourist attraction.

Voyageur Canoeing

Participate in the excitement of navigating the Columbia River in a 34-foot voyageur canoe. Find all the information on our frontier voyageur canoe trips page.

Youth Golf Package

Meet every Thursday evening to experience and develop your golf skills at various local area Par 3 courses.

Mountain Biking

With so many excellent multi-challenge trails, we're able to cover a completely new route every Wednesday afternoon. In particular, keep your eyes peeled for the Mountain Marathon to take place at the end of this summer. The network of trails lead us through scenic harvested douglas fir forest and along the Columbia River wetlands. Sightings of bear, beaver, and elk are likely possibilities. All participants must be at least 9 years of age, or must have the permission of the mountain bike leader to join in. Mountain bikes are to be supplied by the participants, and must be in good repair. Bring a snack and drink. Helmets are mandatory!

Climbing Cube

Can you climb all the way around our portable climbing cube? Are you simply curious what a climbing cube is? Check it out on selected Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Scavenger Treks

Learning, activity, and fun rolled into one package! Search for the special plants, creatures, or rocks during our trivia hikes. Bike around town searching for the hidden clues, and piece the clues together to find the mouth-watering prize. Or rely on your map and compass skills to navigate your way through the forest en route to the prize. Thursday is our usual scavenger trek day, but be ready to pull out those searching skills on any afternoon.

Evening Rollerblade Hockey and Basketball

How about some evening time activity? Meet every Monday and Wednesday evening beside the rollerhockey rink at 7 P.M. for several rounds of rollerblade hockey and tri-team basketball. A small drop-in fee will be collected.

Special Activities

Sometimes you just never know what new blazing challenges you'll participate in! One afternoon you might be defied with the suspended rope walk and pulley swings through the trees. Another day you might find yourself steering down the Columbia River in a 20 person voyageur canoe. Or you might ride through the Rockies, viewing the valleys and mountains from horseback. Check out the events calendar for some of our scheduled special activities.

Rainy Days?

No problem! Gather in the Senior Hall for story-telling, drawing and memory games, and special slide and movie presentations on local wildlife (such as badgers and bears), backcountry hiking and safety, and climbing.

Rain or shine, there's something exciting for adventurers of all ages!
